One local law enforcement agency is investigating the circumstances surrounding the cause of a house fire Friday morning.
Firefighters from Weedsport, Jordan, Sennett, and Elbridge responded to 103 Briarwood Drive in Brutus just before 7 o’clock for a structure fire. According to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck, both people inside the home were able to escape but did suffer injuries. They were taken to Upstate University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Joining the Sheriff’s Office in the investigation are the Auburn Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Unit, New York State Fire Investigators, and K9.
