One of the men hoping to represent portions of Cayuga and Onondaga Counties in the State Assembly has raised over $236,000 for his race.
Ian Phillips’ campaign has announced that it has gathered nearly 300 contributions from district residents and is one of only a handful of assembly candidates statewide to receive the full $175,000 matching grant for the general election.
Ian Phillips stated, “The outpouring of support from residents across the communities of Cayuga and Onondaga has been tremendous. Everywhere I go I hear the same thing – voters are fed up with rising costs and culture warriors and just want elected officials who prioritize common-sense values and deliver for their constituents.
As his general election campaign kicks off, the Phillips campaign has over $206,000 on hand, representing the most of any challenger at this point statewide in any recent cycle.
Phillips, a Democrat is looking to unseat John Lemondes, the Republican incumbent to represent the 126th New York State Assembly District. The district includes the communities of Auburn, Brutus, Cato, Conquest, Mentz, Owasco, Sennett, Throop, Camillus, Elbridge, Fabius, Lafayette, Lysander, Marcellus, Otisco, Pompey, Skaneateles, Spafford, and Tully.
“As a member of the Assembly majority, I’ll focus on making Central New York more affordable, protecting our air and water, and creating good jobs so our kids and grandkids can afford to stay here. I’ll be an Assemblymember who delivers, not divides us,” continued Phillips.
Phillips has previously served as Auburn School Board President and worked with the New York State United Teachers.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 5.
