Efforts are underway to make the Fillmore Nature Preserve more accessible.
The Owasco Lake Watershed Management Council is seeking grant funding to install an access lot and an informational kiosk at the site, located in the Town of Sempronius. On FLX Morning, Doctor Adam Effler with the group said the goal is to make it easier for people to experience and learn about nature.
“We’re looking to make better access there for members of the public to visit the land for respectful use, using its trails for hiking specifically, and the educational kiosk will provide educational information about the value of land conservation,” Effler said.
Back in January, the 161 acres of land that would become the preserve were transferred to the council from the Nature Conservancy.
