The National Park Service is asking for your help to preserve local history.
The Harriet Tubman National Historical Park is looking for items and documents related to the Thompson Memorial AME Zion Church on Parker Street in Auburn. Photos, slides, sheet music, bulletins, and any other documents related to the church and its congregation are all being sought.
Later this month, the park will hold a History Harvest at the site. NPS staff and SUNY Cortland students will be on hand to scan and digitize any items people may have related to the church. Donating items is NOT required.
The History Harvest will take place from 10:30a-12:30p on April 27.
Tubman attended the church in the later years of her life until she died in 1913.
Both the church and neighboring parsonage are managed by the National Park Service. Restoration work on the sites has been ongoing with completion anticipated for later this year.
