Nominations are now open for the 2024 Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce Awards.

Chamber members are eligible for five awards:

The Terri Bridenbecker Young Professional Award recognizes an individual under 40 who is pursuing excellence in their career. The award is named after Terri Bridenbecker, the chamber’s executive director until her sudden passing in 2009.

The Business Leader Award is for a business that takes an active role in the community and invests in it.

There are two Small Business of the Year Awards up for grabs. The first is for businesses under five years old. They must demonstrate entrepreneurship through diversification, creativity, and imagination. The second is for businesses over five years old. To win this award, businesses must demonstrate the ability to overcome adversity and have a commitment to community involvement.

The Non-Profit of the Year Award will go to a non-profit that enhances the quality of life in the community or contributes to the county’s economic base.

Amy Fuller is the Executive Director of the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce. She said the awards are an important part of recognizing the hard work and accomplishments businesses and nonprofits do for the community.

“It’s a great way to acknowledge the hard work that these businesses and nonprofits do, that they don’t always get recognized for,” said Fuller.

There are two additional awards open to individuals.

The first is the Phyllis Goldman Encouragement Award for Women. The chamber says this award goes to women who have ” demonstrated noteworthy entrepreneurial and professional pursuits, who are committed to community and have served as a role model for other women and girls pursuing their career dreams. ”

The second is the Community Leadership Award. This award is open to Leadership Cayuga alumni.

Nominations are open now through April 5 and awards will be given out at the annual Chamber Luncheon scheduled for May 9. More information on each award and how to nominate a business or individual can be found on the chamber’s website
