As the Moravia Central School District Board of Education continues the process of finding its next superintendent, the board has reached what it calls a “key milestone.”
After reviewing feedback from a community survey launched last month, the board has identified the ideal characteristics the next superintendent should possess. The district said the next person to fill the role should be “a visible, student-centered superintendent who inspires confidence” and “a leader who communicates with clarity and leads with integrity, compassion, and purpose.”
Survey participants also weighed in on what the next superintendent’s top priorities should be. The community identified leadership and communication, student focus, and transparency and accountability as the top priorities for the incoming superintendent.
The board has also shared some key dates as the selection process moves forward with the goal of appointing a new superintendent by April, with a start date of July 1.
The superintendent position posting will open on November 21, with the application deadline set for January 7.
A second community survey will be opened from December 1-16, focusing on the district’s strengths and growth opportunities.
In March, finalist candidates will meet with staff, students, and community stakeholder committees, with a registration link set to launch in February.
The board added that it remains committed to transparency during the search process and will share updates as they become available. More information on the search process can be found on the district’s website.
