A large overnight fire has left a home on Willowbrook Drive in Owasco a total loss. The blaze broke out in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with the Owasco Fire Department dispatched to the scene at 1:47 a.m., along with initial mutual aid from Fleming, Sennett, and Aurelius Fire Departments.
Upon arrival, crews found a single-family home fully engulfed in flames. Due to the extent of the fire and a partial collapse of the structure, firefighters were forced to battle the blaze from the outside.
The incident was quickly escalated to a second alarm because of the size of the building and the intensity of the fire. This brought additional support from the Auburn, Moravia, and Skaneateles Fire Departments. More personnel were also called in from Mottville and 3 Town Fire Departments to assist with manpower.
Standby coverage for the surrounding area was provided by Cayuga, Port Byron, and Throop Fire Departments to ensure continued emergency coverage during the incident.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
