A person suffered a serious fall at a building site in the Town of Genoa Tuesday morning, prompting a multi-agency rescue response.
Cayuga County 911 dispatched Genoa Rescue, the King Ferry Fire Department, and Southern Cayuga Instant Aid shortly before 9:15 a.m. to the 300 block of State Route 34 Jan. 6. Responders said the individual fell an estimated 30 to 35 feet.
Rescue units from Genoa arrived within minutes and immediately began patient care. Genoa Engine 2 and King Ferry Fire Department Rescue established a landing zone for LifeNet of New York helicopter 7-12, which transported the patient.
Fifteen Genoa Volunteer Fire Department personnel responded to the call. The New York State Police and the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office also assisted.
Officials said the scene was cleared in about an hour and a half and turned over to New York State Police. The Genoa Fire Department thanked its members and mutual aid partners for their “exceptional teamwork” during the incident.
