Long Island Man Convicted of Assaulting Auburn Corrections Officers

A Long Island man has been convicted of assaulting two corrections officers while incarcerated at Auburn Correctional Facility.

According to the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office, Windsor Coleman of Massapequa was found guilty of two counts of Assault, violent felonies, by a jury following a three-day trial

Following testimony and evidence including photos, video, and medical records, the jury determined that Coleman assaulted two corrections officers by striking them in the head on August 10, 2022. Additionally, he cut one of them on the neck.

Both officers were treated at Auburn Community Hospital’s Emergency Room for their injuries.

When sentenced on November 12 before Judge Jon Budelmann, Coleman faces a minimum determinate sentence of three years in state prison and a maximum sentence of seven years followed by five years post-release supervision for each offense. This sentence will run concurrently with his current, unrelated prison sentence.

Coleman is currently serving time at Attica Correctional Facility.
