The Union Springs Lions Club needs your help to expand the playground at Frontenac Park in the village.
The Lions helped fund the playground’s construction in 2018. Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Chapter President Chad Holmberg said the organization is hoping to expand the space, making it more inclusive for younger children.
“We found that some of the equipment [currently in place] is too large for toddlers so we’re going to put in an expansion to the current footprint of the playground so it’ll be for toddlers, five and younger,” said Holmberg.
The club has already begun working on designs for the expansion. According to Holmberg, plans include adding a jungle gym, slides, and swings designed for younger children. He added that funding will dictate how much the expansion will entail.
The club is currently accepting donations for the expansion with the hope of having all donations in by the end of May. This will allow the Lions to seek matching grants to further fund the project.
Holmberg added that the club’s goal is to have the expansion completed in the summer.
Donations can be made by sending checks to PO Box 150 Union Spring, NY 13160.
