Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has more support as she looks to unseat Kathy Hochul as New York’s governor.
Assemblman John Lemondes, a fellow Republican, has announced he is endorsing the congresswoman in her bid to become the Empire State’s next governor.
In his decision, Lemondes said he believes that Stefanik will usher in a new era of prosperity for New York if elected.
“I’m proud to be able to throw my support behind the most qualified candidate to fight back against Kathy Hochul’s radical agenda, Elise Stefanik,” said Lemondes. “For too long, this administration has turned its back on upstate New Yorkers while cozying up to downstate socialists. That’s not the leadership our state deserves. Central New York families deserve a governor who listens, leads with integrity and delivers common-sense policies that make life more affordable and our communities safer. Elise Stefanik has a proven record of bipartisan leadership and real results for New York families, and I’m confident she’ll bring that same strength and vision to the governor’s office.”
Stefanik, who has represented the state’s 21st congressional district since 2015, formally announced she’d challenge Hochul for governor on Friday.
NY-23 Congressman Nick Langworthy has also announced his support for Stefanik.
Lemondes currently represents New York’s 126th assembly district, which includes parts of Cayuga County. He recently announced he won’t seek reelection; instead, he’s running for Congress, hoping to unseat Congressman John Mannion to represent the state’s 22nd Congressional District.
