Juneteenth Art Exhibition Moving Forward

SHARE NOW

An Auburn art exhibition will move forward.

A Kickstarter was launched last month to cover the costs of Cosmic Black Joy‘s installation at the Seymour Library. The fundraiser, however, was unable to reach the $7,000 necessary to pay for the proper installation of the works – a collection of tapestries – by hanging them from the 126-year-old building’s skylights.

Despite this setback, artist Arthur Hutchinson told Finger Lakes News Radio that the show will go on thanks to a Finger Lakes Community Arts Grant, private donations, and support from Partners + Napier.

“I found out around the same time when things were starting to look like we might not reach our goal,” said Hutchinson. “It came through at exactly the right time so it eased off all that pressure from the Kickstarter.”

The exhibition will open on June 20 and remain on display throughout the summer.
