Cayuga County saw no fatal overdoses in the first month of 2024.
According to data from the county, there were only 12 suspected overdoses in January with none being fatal. This is the same number achieved in January 2023 and nearly half that of January 2022 which saw 22 suspected overdoses.
Of the 12 suspected overdoses this January, 8.3% are believed to have involved opioids. 75% of the total overdoses occurred in Auburn.
Overdoses have been declining in Cayuga County with 2023 seeing under 200 total.
