Three New York Assemblymen are holding rural equity forums to highlight the issues facing Upstate New York.
Speaking on FLX Morning, Assemblyman John Lemondes said the forums are about eventually getting additional resources for Upstate.
“The most important thing is the recognition of the challenges that rural folks have, and then actually sitting down and doing something about it. So, we hope that these forums will drive exposure; the exposure will drive the ability to plan, and that planning will result in resources,” said Lemondes.
Some issues Lemondes said will be discussed include rural internet, energy, and utility costs.
Lemondes, whose 126th district comprises parts of Cayuga and Onondaga Counties, will be joined by fellow assemblymen Jeff Gallahan and Brian Miller. Gallahan’s 131st district stretches from Canandaigua to Whitney Point, covering the southern parts of Cayuga County while Miller’s 122nd district is based out of New Hartford.
The Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department will host a forum on November 29 from 6:30-8:30p.
