An inmate accused of assaulting an officer at Auburn Correctional Facility is getting more time tacked on to his current sentence after pleading guilty in Cayuga County Court to an assault charge.
Taj Williams, who is from Queens, admitted that he knocked the corrections officer unconscious with a punch while being frisked upon being admitted into a special housing unit at the jail back in March. The victim suffered a broken nose and other undisclosed injuries. Following the March incident, Williams was transferred to Attica.
Williams will be sentenced to five years in prison and five years probation in three weeks. His new sentence will run consecutively to his current sentence.
