It was a historic Auburn City Council meeting on Thursday. Jennifer Haines was unanimously approved as the first woman city manager. She will succeed Jeff Dygert, who is set to retire at the end of June.
Haines is no stranger to the city. She’s been an employee for 31 years and is currently its director of planning and economic development.
Following the 5-0 vote, Haines told City Council she is looking forward to her new role.
“There are exciting opportunities and partnerships for us to pursue together as we focus on providing our services to our residents, businesses, organizations, and visitors with excellence,” Haines said. “We have good work and hard work ahead of us.”
