The Harriet Tubman National Historical Park will not open this year.
Originally anticipated to open by the end of summer, Ahna Wilson, who is the Park Superintendent of both the Harriet Tubman and the Women’s Rights National Historical Park, made the announcement that supply chain delays and unforeseen circumstances have pushed back the park’s opening date.
Despite the setbacks, much work has been completed at the Parker Street Church and Parsonage, including the restoration of the church’s spire.
Work that is currently underway includes cleaning and restoring the wainscoting in the church, and plaster and floor repair in both the vestibule and pastor’s study.
Restoration of the auditorium’s flooring is expected to take place in the winter.
The park is now expected to open in the spring or summer of 2024.
