Two grants will help the City of Auburn purchase new vehicles for its fire and police departments.
At last week’s City Council Meeting, Mayor Jimmy Giannettino announced that State Senator Rachel May’s office contacted city staff to inform them that the city has been awarded two grants, each worth $150,000.
Speaking on FLX Morning, City Clerk Chuck Mason explained that the Auburn Police Department will use one grant to purchase two new cruisers, while the Auburn Fire Department will use the other to purchase two new command vehicles.
“We appreciate the work of State Senator Rachel May to work with the city and help us to obtain these grants. In these current times of tight city budgets, it’s great to have these grant programs that we can rely on to get our staff the equipment and supplies that they need,” said Mason.
Mason added he expects the departments to have the vehicles within the year.
