A special ceremony later this month in Cayuga County will honor local women who don’t always get recognition.
In recognition of Women’s History Month, County Historian Ruth Bradley will present Grangers, Gardeners, and Grandmas: Unsung Women Heroines at the Frontenac Museum Historical Society & Museum in Union Springs. The talk will take a look at the women whose small actions have helped to sustain and improve society.
The museum will also use the event as an opportunity to unveil a new exhibit. Forgotten Women’s History tells the story of the suffrage movement from the point of view of those actively involved in the fight to get women the right to vote. Much like the event, the exhibit features those local women whose names weren’t written down in the history book but nonetheless played a role in national issues, even without the right to vote.
The free event takes place March 24 at 3:00p
