This weekend sees the return of Founders Day to Auburn.
A celebration of the city’s history, the event will feature live entertainment, classic cars, history tours, and food and drink both downtown and at the Willard Chapel. Jesse Kline with the Auburn BID says this year will also give you a chance to help create a mosaic mural to be installed at Auburn Public Theater.
“[The mural]’s kind of a rainbow-colored sunset, and then we’re going to have stainless steel letters that say Auburn,” Kline told Finger Lakes News Radio. “So Saturday and Sunday, we will be filling the letters with mirrored glass and stained glass and the volunteers will be doing that with us from 10:00a-2:00p.”
Funding for the mural comes as part of the city’s DRI grant.
Founders Day is this Saturday. Highlights of the celebration include:
- History on Wheels Antique & Classic Auto Cruise-in featuring classic oldies music with Goodtime Charlie’s Mobile Entertainment on Genesee Street.
