Former Auburn Priest Named in $95M Sexual Lawsuit

SHARE NOW

A jury last week awarded $95 million to Rochester man who alleged he was sexually abused in 1979 by a former Auburn Catholic priest.

The victim was just 15-years old when abuse occurred.

Reverend Foster P. Rogers was assistant pastor at St. Alphonsus in Auburn, which is part of the 12-county Rochester diocese.

The Democrat and Chronicle reports the victim had no connection to the church. He claimed that Foster offered him a ride while in downtown Rochester when he was 15.

Rogers, now in his 80’s, has had other sexual complaints against him.

The award is one of the largest in New York since the Child Victims Act, which opened a window for lawsuits from past child victims of sexual abuse.
