First Woman Elected to Auburn City Council Passes Away

The first woman ever elected to Auburn City Council has passed away.

Ann Bunker, a lifelong Auburn resident, died Friday at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester at the age of 71. Bunker served two terms on City Council and co-founded the Sexual Assault Victims Advocate Resource. As Board President of Auburn Community Baseball, Bunker oversaw the Falcon Park Stadium Project.

According to her obituary, ” Ann received her B.A. in Sociology from SUNY Albany in 1974 and went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Syracuse University College of Law in 1984. The majority of her career in law was spent as a Sole Practitioner in general practice with an emphasis on Family Law, Juvenile Advocacy, and Domestic Relations. She also worked for the Cayuga Integrated Domestic Violence Court from 2005 to 2015.”

A funeral service for Ann Bunker will be held this morning at 10 o’clock at the United Methodist Church in Auburn.
