Fire crews made quick work of two recent fires in Cayuga County.
The first occurred Friday afternoon at the Boyle Center in downtown Auburn. The fire department says crews responded to an automatic alarm at the center. Once on scene, they learned the fire was in the kitchen of a third-floor apartment.
It took crews roughly 15 minutes to bring the fire under control. All eight floors of the building were then ventilated.
The city’s ambulance service was on hand to treat residents for difficulty breathing—no one needed to be taken to the hospital. One person was displaced by the fire and received assistance from the Red Cross.
The following night saw multiple departments responding to a basement fire in Fleming. The blaze was confirmed just after 10:30p and took roughly half an hour to extinguish.
No injuries were reported and the rest of the structure saw limited damage.
