Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County will take over the Taste NY market at the Equal Rights Heritage Center in Auburn.
Speaking on FLX Morning, City Clerk Chuck Mason said the group is taking over management from Tompkins County’s CCE and that this will add a local touch.
“We have had a great relationship with the Cornell Cooperative Extension Network, and now that [Cayuga County Cornell Cooperative Extension] is running it, it’s an even better relationship, I think, because there’s more directly local players involved, and we appreciate their efforts. It’s a great addition to the heritage center.”
The city will receive $6,000 for the lease agreement which runs until March 31, 2024. Taste NY is funded by the state budget with Cornell Cooperative Extension receiving a contract to run it and then leasing the space at the Equal Rights Heritage Center from the city.
The market features locally made fare, allowing visitors to get a taste of upstate New York.
