An Auburn special education school has received a national award.
The E. John Gavras Center has been named as a School of Excellence by the National Association of Special Education Teachers, the highest honor available to a private special education school.
To earn the award, a school must demonstrate exceptional dedication, commitment, and achievement in the field of special education.
E. John Gavras Center’s Community Liaison, Bob Padula, said in a press release, “As the only licensed, inclusive pre-school in Cayuga County, we take great pride in the work that our certified teachers, special education teachers, paraprofessionals and therapists do with our children each and every day. We have an unwavering belief in the potential of every person who comes through our doors.”
Besides the preschool, the center also offers Early Intervention, an Article 28 clinic, and Day Hab for adults with intellectual disabilities.
