According to the Department of Environmental Conservation, 49-year old John Rio of Jordan was driving with his 14-year old son when he stopped and shot at the DEC’s decoy in the Town of Niles from his truck. Law enforcement says Rio is known as someone who “repeatedly fails to comply with New York State Environmental Conservation Law.” He was ticketed for possessing a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle and shooting from a public highway. Additional charges may follow after DEC officers consult with the District Attorney’s Office.
