The date is set for the final scheduled Local Planning Committee (LPC) meeting for the three Cayuga County villages jointly awarded Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) funding from New York State.
Emma Phillips is with C&S Companies, the group assisting Central New York DRI winners with project selections. She told Finger Lakes News Radio that projects will be discussed at this meeting for possible inclusion in the Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) which will be sent to the Department of State. The state will then announce which projects from the SIP will receive funding, something anticipated to be announced by spring 2025.
Phillips added that, if a consensus can be reached, the LPC could vote on the final slate at the end of the meeting; however, if a consensus can’t be reached, an additional meeting will be needed to allow for the final vote.
Phillips said it’s exciting to be one step closer to the implementation phase.
“It’s nice to close the chapter of planning and then the villages will be able to move into implementation which is where all the good stuff happens and the community can see the true transformation.”
The meeting will take from 4:00-6:00p on Monday, October 28 at the Union Springs Fire Hall. The public is encouraged to attend. Those who can’t make the event in person can attend the meeting virtually via Zoom.
