As Auburn and Owasco continue to push for a Total Maximum Daily Load for Owasco Lake, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney says her office is looking into the matter.
“We are actually looking into this,” Tenney said on FLX Morning. “This has been brought to our attention. Obviously, it is a complete honor to represent the Finger Lakes, one of the most beautiful parts, not only of New York State, but our entire country, and maybe even the world… Common sense conservation has to happen.”
Earlier this month, both municipalities unanimously passed resolutions urging the state to implement a TMDL, a maximum amount of pollutants allowed to enter a water body so it will meet water quality standards.
At its Thursday City Council meeting, Auburn City Clerk Chuck Mason told Council that, aside from Tenney’s office, the offices of State Senator Rachel May, Assemblyman John Lemondes, US Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, and Governor Kathy Hochul have acknowledged receiving copies of the resolution.
