Auburn City Council will receive an update on the plan to rehabilitate the Lake Ave Bridge on Thursday.
Jeff Reina, the Highway Department Leader at C&S Engineers Inc, is slated to present the rehabilitation plan before Council.
The project aims to extend the bridge’s life by another 25 years and reduce life-cycle maintenance costs. The bridge, built in 1954, last had major rehabilitation work done in 2002.
According to the plan, construction is anticipated to begin in May 2026 and end in November 2027. During this time, traffic will be rerouted across the Genesee St Bridge.
Officials estimate 9,000 vehicles traverse the bridge per day.
