Chick-fil-A Could Be Coming To Auburn

SHARE NOW

A national fast-food chain could soon be coming to Auburn.

The Auburn City Council is expected to vote Thursday on the sale of a vacant half-acre parcel at 277 Grant Avenue to Chick-fil-A. The company would pay $20,000 for the city-owned property.

According to a memo from city Corporation Counsel Nate Garland, the restaurant chain plans to merge the parcel with the neighboring property at 281 Grant Avenue. That site previously housed Auburn Cardiology Associates, which closed in 2024 when Dr. Rama Godishala retired.

The property had been listed for sale by Venture Brokerage Group, though online listings have since been removed.

City officials say the purchase would generate $20,000 in revenue for Auburn and could lead to additional sales tax revenue once the property is developed.

While Chick-fil-A has not formally announced plans for an Auburn restaurant, the company has been expanding across New York in recent years.

The Auburn proposal comes as Chick-fil-A continues expanding in the Finger Lakes, including a new restaurant planned in Victor that is expected to open later this year. Company officials recently announced plans to open six new restaurants in upstate New York by the end of 2029. The projects are expected to create more than 600 jobs.

If the Auburn project moves forward, the company would likely need to seek site plan approval from the Auburn Planning Board before construction could begin.

The potential restaurant is one of two major development projects proposed along Grant Avenue. A Rochester-area developer has also proposed building an 89-suite Marriott hotel at 132-134 Grant Avenue.
