As farmers prepare their trucks and field equipment for the 2025 season, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County will host two workshops next month to help farmers understand agricultural transportation laws.
Part of CCE’s Winter Shop Meeting Series, Understanding of the Licensing and Legal Aspects of Agricultural Transportation will discuss a variety of topics including:
- Can any type of vehicle be registered under the Agricultural class?
- Can I drive on public highways with my registered farm vehicle?
- What type of license(s) do I need? Do I need to log my hours?
- What are the weight limits for a truck hauling a trailer?
- What does an Inspection for Agricultural class vehicles and trailers cover?
- What are my insurance requirements?
The first workshop will take place on Monday, March 17 at Raymond Donald & Sons at 2062 E Venice Road in Moravia. The second will be held the following day at Kyle Farms/Preferred Grain Systems at 12394 Bradt Rd in Cato. Both workshops will run from 12:30-3:00p.
The event is free and no registration is required. Those planning to attend are asked to bring their own camp chairs.
CCE will provide coffee and doughnuts.
Anyone with questions is asked to contact Ron Kuck at 315-704-8810 or [email protected].
