Cayuga County once again has a county manager.
The county’s legislature voted Thursday, authorizing the creation and filling of a county manager position. The resolution was passed along party lines with Democrats voting for and Republicans against.
Last month, Legislature Chair Aileen McNabb-Coleman announced the resolution had been added to the agenda to appoint Steve Lynch to the position. Following the vote, McNabb-Coleman welcomed Lynch to his new role.
“So, I want to welcome Steve to the operations side of Cayuga County and I thank you very much for taking us up on the offer and we’re excited to work with you,” said McNabb-Coleman.
According to the resolution, the county manager’s duties will include “implementing County policies, overseeing and coordinating activities of all County departments, and providing a full range of staff services to the Chair of the Legislature.”
Lynch has spent the past 18 years working as the county’s Planning and Economic Development Director. Just after the vote, the legislature voted to appoint then Associate Planner Kari Terwilliger as the county’s next Planning and Economic Development Director. Both began their new roles on Friday.
