Mark Moody’s 25-year career as a dedicated prosecutor just earned him one of New York’s highest honors.

The Special Counsel to the Cayuga County District Attorney was recently named a recipient of the Robert M. Morgenthau Award, given to standout prosecutors across the state who show exceptional integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to justice.

Named after the legendary New York County DA Robert Morgenthau, the award recognizes prosecutors who go above and beyond in serving their communities.

District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci praised Moody’s long record of service, saying, “Mark has handled some of the toughest cases and always keeps fairness and ethics front and center. He truly embodies what this award stands for.”

Moody’s career started in 1997 with the Jefferson County DA’s Office, followed by roles in Onondaga and Oswego counties, including time as Chief Assistant and Acting District Attorney. Since joining Cayuga County in 2024, he’s been a key player in handling major felony cases and mentoring fellow prosecutors.

“I’m honored and humbled to receive this award,” Moody said. “My goal has always been to do the right thing—fairly and honestly—for victims, law enforcement, and the public. I hope I’ve lived up to that every day.”

Moody accepted the award last Friday at DAASNY’s Annual Awards Luncheon during the Winter Conference in Manhattan.
