Cayuga County saw a slight uptick in the number of suspected overdoses last month.
At the time of reporting, the county’s overdose dashboard reports 16 suspected overdoses in May, including one fatality. This represents the largest single month for overdoses so far this year as well as the second fatal overdose for the year.
The dashboard also revealed that 94% of May’s incidents happened in the City of Auburn.
April only saw seven overdoes with none being fatal. January, February, and March each saw 12 non-fatal overdoes with February also having one fatality.
In total, there have been 60 overdoses reported in Cayuga County in 2024, down from the 67 the county had seen by this same time in 2023.
