Cayuga County will receive $100,000 in federal funding through the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) to conduct a comprehensive housing market study, U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced.

The study will examine housing needs, trends, and development opportunities across the county. Local officials say the findings will help guide future investments, partnerships, and funding strategies to support workforce and community growth.

The Cayuga County project is part of a larger $11.39 million NBRC allocation for 18 projects across Upstate New York, aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare access, early education, and economic development.

“From expanding access to health care to upgrading wastewater systems, this $11+ million in federal funding will support major infrastructure improvements and boost quality of life across Upstate New York,” said Senator Schumer. Senator Gillibrand added, “Federal dollars are powering real growth, strengthening local economies, creating jobs, and delivering the services New Yorkers rely on.
