Changes to security at the Cayuga County Office Building are on their way.
In an effort to increase the safety of office staff and visitors, Sheriff Brian Schenck is working with the county legislature to install a metal detector and bag scanner at the building. Schenck said that he expects the changes to take place in the coming months as his office works with the legislature to secure funding for the upgrades.
Currently, visitors to the downtown Auburn location are IDed and given a badge by security before be allowed to go through the building.
