The Cayuga County Office Building is closed for the rest of the week after an assessment of its roof Wednesday revealed repairs need to be made. The roof sustained damage during Tuesday’s windstorm.
Legislature Chair Aileen McNabb-Coleman provided this update on Wednesday night:
“An assessment of the roof is complete and a strategy for repair is underway. This project requires a crane, which is currently located at the back of the County Office Building. Since there will be limited access for employees and the public during this time, officials have decided to close the building on Thursday, January 11th and Friday, January 12th. All County Departments located within the County Office Building will work remotely. The estimated completion of repair is expected on Friday, January 12.
If Cayuga County residents are in need of services from Cayuga County Department of Social Services (Temporary Assistance, Emergency Assistance, SNAP, HEAP, Medicaid, Children & Family Services) during the time that the County Office Building is closed to the public, they can call 315-255-6272 and will be directed to a DSS employee who will assist them.
I want to thank the Cayuga County employees for their patience and flexibility during this event. Many thanks to our Buildings and Grounds Director, Gary Duckett, and his staff for their response.
Legislative Oversight Committees have been moved to next week. They will be held in the Cayuga County Office Building Chambers at 5:30pm. Government Operations and Judicial Public Safety Committees will meet on Tuesday,11/16/24. On Wednesday, 11/17/24, Health and Human Services committee will meet, and Ways and Means Committee will meet on Thursday, 11/18/24.”
