An extensive State Police investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving a child under the age of 15 resulted in the arrest of a Cayuga County man.
The investigation began on January 14th when Cortland County Child Protective Services contacted State Police regarding disclosures made to them by the victim. Investigators allege that Christopher Quaile, of Locke, engaged in criminal sexual conduct with the victim at his residence on multiple occasions in July of 2023. Quaile, who is already an inmate at the Cayuga County Jail on separate charges, was officially arrested on a felony rape charge on March 10th.
Following his processing, Quaile was transported back to Cayuga County Jail to await CAP arraignment. Prosecutors recommended no bail due to Quaile’s prior felony convictions and pending sentencing on an unrelated felony case.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
