Convictions were affirmed Friday in two notable Cayuga County felony cases.
According to the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office, the Appellate Division in Rochester affirmed the convictions of Brian Lawrence and Paul Bovee.
Lawrence was found guilty on October 28, 2021, of entering a woman’s home and raping her. In December he was sentenced to 15 years in prison followed by 10 years post-release supervision for his Rape and Criminal Trespass convictions.
In August of the same year, Bovee pled guilty to threatening Auburn police officers with a knife back in August of 2020. For the Menacing a Police Officer and Imitation of Controlled Substance convictions, he was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison followed by 5 years post-release supervision.
Two other convictions were also upheld.
Gary Brown pled guilty to Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in July of 2019 after being stopped by a State Trooper a month prior in Sennett with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 and two children in his vehicle. Brown was sentenced to 16 months – 4 years in prison in November of 2021.
In August of 2021, Emmanuel Walls pled guilty to Criminal Contempt and DWI after crashing his car while intoxicated in December of 2019. In the car with him was a person who had an order of protection against him. Walls was sentenced in March of 2022 to 1.5-3 years in prison.
