Cayuga County is expanding its mobile crisis services.
The City of Auburn and Cayuga County have both agreed to contribute $80,000 of ARPA funding to provide services between 9:00a and 5:00p.
The Mobile Crisis Team responds to calls throughout the county where no criminal activity has occurred to provide services to those requiring immediate attention due to a mental health crisis. By doing so, the team frees up law enforcement, allowing them to be more appropriately deployed elsewhere.
While the city and county are each putting forth $80,000 to cover the start-up costs of the expansion, the county will fund the program moving forward.
