The United States Department of Agriculture has designated Cayuga County as a Primary Natural Disaster area.
The designation allows the Farm Service Agency to assist area farmers recovering from natural disasters triggered by wind or fire through emergency loans. The loans can be used for various needs including replacing equipment and livestock, refinancing certain debts, or reorganization. Loans will be reviewed by the FSA based on the extent of losses, security availability, and repayment ability.
Contiguous counties also eligible to apply for the emergency loans are Cortland, Onondaga, Oswego, Seneca, Tompkins, and Wayne.
Applications are due April 30, 2025. More information can be found at fsa.usda.gov.
