After seven years, The Auburn School District Capital Improvement Project started in 2017 is nearing completion.
Speaking of FLX Morning, Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo said, the final phase is planned to be completed by December.
“This should be the last phase of the 2017 Capital project, said Pirozzolo. It should [begin] this summer, probably wrapping up in December. Then, the board and all of our cabinet, we’ll be working on coming up with our next Capital Project.”
Pirozzolo noted that the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated loss of workers and increased cost of materials delayed the project while also forcing the district to scale back its plans.
“We had to trim out things at the high school, such as we were going to replace all the univents there; we had to trim that out. We had to scale down some of the work at the junior high,” he said.
The district is waiting to get approval from New York State for the final phase to begin this summer. Work is planned to include replacing rooftop units at the high school, parking lot improvements at the high school and Seward Elementary, and playground work at Owasco Elementary.
