Auburn School District Holding Public Hearing on Safety Thursday

SHARE NOW

Auburn residents will have a chance this week to learn about how the Auburn School District handles student safety.

A public hearing will be held at the Harriet Tubman Administration Building on the district’s strategic safety plan.

Speaking on FLX Monring with Ted Baker, Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo said that Eric Francisco, Director of Facilities will give a broad presentation on safety measures in the district followed by time for attendees to ask questions.

“We do this every year and we share as much of the plan as we can,” said Pirozzolo. “There’s certain aspects of the plan that we can’t share because it is more confidential for keeping our kids and staff safe.”

The presentation begins at 12:00p on Thursday.

Among new features being added this year will be a change to how people enter the junior high school. People going to the building will be first buzzed into a secure vestibule, then into the main office, and then finally allowed to enter the school. This is the same as how the district’s elementary schools operate.
