As people begin to focus on finding the perfect present this holiday season, the Auburn Rescue Mission is once again collecting toys and gifts for those in need.
Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Gary Mann with the nonprofit said the drive is an important part of their mission to support local families.
“I think because we get to focus on the families that are in our program, we get to go a little bit further and give them the biggest and best Christmas possible.,” Mann said. “So, at times, there’ll be literally bags and boxes of stuff for families. And it just kind of builds on what we’ve always been trying to build on here.”
Mann added that gifts don’t need to be toys. He said clothes, toiletries, and blankets are always welcome. The mission gave the following gift ideas for anyone seeking to help: Board Games, Barbies, Superheros, Toiletries, Yard Games, PJs, Pillow & Blanket Sets, Gift Cards, and Hoodies. Gifts are asked to be unwrapped.
Donations will be accepted now through December 20 at two locations in the city: the Chamber of Commerce (2 State St) from 8:30a-5:00p, and the Auburn Rescue Mission (51 Merriman St) from 8:00a-4:00, Monday through Friday.
Donations can also be dropped off from 5:00-7:30p at Lyons National Bank (311 Grant Ave Rd) on Thursday, November 30, at the Chamber of Commerce’s holiday party.
