Auburn has released the results of its annual drinking water report.
According to the city, its tap water met all state drinking water health standards. Tests were conducted for over 100 contaminants in 2023 and, while some contaminants were detected, none were found at a level above the New York State Department of Health’s thresholds.
The City of Auburn obtains its water from Owasco Lake through a single intake line that runs over 1,800 ft into the lake. The city provides drinking water for nearly 45,000 people throughout Cayuga County, including areas within the towns of Aurelius, Brutus, Fleming, Mentz, Montezuma, Sennett, Springport, and Throop.
In 2023, the city produced nearly 1.4 billion gallons of water.
