Auburn Officials Announce Major Update to City Website

The city of Auburn is preparing to launch a redesigned municipal website this spring, aiming to improve accessibility, transparency, and mobile usability for residents.

During a recent update to the Auburn City Council, city officials said the current website platform, operated through CivicPlus, is nearly a decade old and no longer meets modern technology standards.

City Manager Chuck Mason said the city is about halfway through the upgrade process, with a new website expected to launch in early April.

“The platform that our city website sits on and has sat on for the last nine years is old technology at this point, and we’re in need of an upgrade,” Mason said.

The redesigned site will feature a modern layout, improved navigation, and enhanced compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Officials said the site will function more effectively on smartphones, tablets, and computers while maintaining public access to meeting livestreams, agendas, and city documents.

Phase one of the project includes the public website relaunch in April. Phase two, expected around June, will transition the city’s agenda and meeting management system to a new CivicPlus platform, giving City Council, board, and commission agendas a redesigned format.

Mason said the upgrades are expected to expand public access to information and strengthen government transparency.
