A local man has been sentenced to 12 years in state prison following his conviction on felony drug charges.

Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced that 45-year-old Terrance Hines, of Auburn, was found guilty in April by a jury of two felony counts: Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B felony, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a Class C felony.

Prosecutors said Hines possessed more than one-eighth of an ounce of cocaine with the intent to sell it.

On Wednesday, Cayuga County Court Judge Thomas G. Leone sentenced Hines to a 12-year determinate prison term with three years of post-release supervision for the more serious charge. He also received an eight-year determinate sentence, with three years of post-release supervision, on the lesser charge. The sentences will run concurrently, as required by law.

The case was prosecuted by Special Counsel to the District Attorney Mark Moody, following an investigation by the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force.
