SHARE NOW

An Auburn man has pleaded guilty in a Pennsylvania federal court to a charge related to the sexual exploitation of a minor, Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti announced.

35-year-old Kyle Samsel admitted to traveling across state lines in October 2020 with the intent to engage in illegal sexual activity with a minor. The plea was entered before U.S. District Judge Susan Paradise Baxter, who scheduled sentencing for November 13, 2025.

Samsel faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence will be determined in accordance with federal sentencing guidelines, which consider the seriousness of the offense and any prior criminal history.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian A. Trabold following an investigation by the FBI, Pennsylvania State Police, Cleveland Division of Police, and Webster Police Department.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children and to identify and rescue victims.
