A local man who was arrested last June after he offered to pay for sex and requested nude photos from someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl but instead was an undercover police officer has been handed his punishment.
For the next four months, Anthony Bartolotta will spend his weekends in the Cayuga County Jail after pleading guilty to an attempted rape charge in December. He will also have to register as a sex offender and will be on probation for ten years once his weekend jail sentence is complete.
On June 8th, the Auburn man drove to Olympia Terrace believing he was going to meet up with the teen. Police say he honked his horn at an officer posing as the girl’s aunt but left after the girl didn’t show up.
The Citizen reports Bartolotta received the same sentence as the two other men arrested in the sting operation
