Auburn wants to make upgrades to its city court space at the Old Post Office Building to bring it into compliance with the Office of Court Administration. That property is owned by Cayuga County.
City Clerk Chuck Mason explained on FLX Morning how they’ll proceed saying “the city is going to take care of designing what’s going to need to happen for the potential renovation of that office space over there and then there will be a negotiation of a lease based on what we find is going to be needed in the renovation. There will be a negotiation of a new long term lease. The city would then potentially enter into that long term lease and Cayuga County would do the work as be be the landlord.”
City Council voted Thursday to move forward with this first step in a renovation project expected to take several years.
